There are some great treasures hidden online in the National Library.
I found these cool images among the collection of Johnsonville Mall.
I remember visiting it as a child before the Mall was last renovated. It was cold and a bit of a wind tunnel with no doors at either end. The floor in what is now the foodcourt was exposed aggregate concrete from memory.
During school holidays, a man used to set up a small pen with ride on cars that cost 20 cents for ten minutes. My siblings and I used to beg mum to take us to the mall to ride the cars. Happy Days!
